Here’s a quick, savory, and satisfying recipe for Cheese & Onion Toast — a perfect comfort snack or simple lunch option that’s full of flavor with minimal ingredients.


🧀 Cheese & Onion Toast

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)

  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (yellow or red onion works well)

  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil

  • ½ tsp dried thyme or oregano (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: mustard, Worcestershire sauce, or chopped chives for added kick


Instructions:

1. Prep the Onions:

  • Heat butter or oil in a pan over medium heat.

  • Add sliced onions and cook for about 5–7 minutes, until soft and lightly golden.

  • Season with a little salt, pepper, and herbs if using. Set aside.

2. Assemble the Toast:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or turn on the broiler.

  • Lightly toast the bread slices first (optional but helps keep the toast crisp).

  • Spread a thin layer of mustard or Worcestershire on each slice (optional).

  • Top with the sautéed onions, then sprinkle generously with cheese.

3. Bake or Broil:

  • Place the toasts on a baking sheet.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, or broil for 3–4 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.


📝 Serving Tips:

  • Serve hot with a side salad or soup.

  • Top with fresh herbs or a few chili flakes for a little heat.
