Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars are a sweet, indulgent treat with layers of gooey caramel, rich chocolate, and a crunchy base. These bars are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and are easy to make. Here’s a simple recipe to try:

Caramel Chocolate Crunch Bars

Ingredients:

  • For the crunch base:
    • 2 cups rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the caramel layer:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 cup heavy cream
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the chocolate layer:
    • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Make the crunch base:
    • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Stir in the brown sugar and corn syrup, and cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to bubble and thicken slightly.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
    • Pour the mixture over the rice cereal in a large bowl and stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
    • Press the cereal mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch baking dish (or line it with parchment paper). Press it down firmly to create a solid base.
  2. Prepare the caramel layer:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream, and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and becomes smooth.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
    • Pour the caramel over the rice cereal crunch base and spread it evenly. Let it sit at room temperature to cool and set for about 15 minutes.
  3. Make the chocolate layer:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter.
    • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
    • Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer, spreading it evenly to cover the top.
  4. Set the bars:
    • Let the bars cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate them for at least 1 hour to allow the chocolate to harden completely.
  5. Cut and serve:
    • Once the chocolate has set, remove the bars from the fridge and cut them into squares or rectangles.
    • Serve and enjoy the delicious layers of caramel, chocolate, and crunch!
