Here’s a classic, melt-in-your-mouth Butter Cookies recipe — simple, buttery, and perfect for tea time or holiday tins!

🍪 Classic Butter Cookies

🧈 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract (or almond extract for variation)

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp salt

(Optional Toppings):

  • Sanding sugar

  • Chocolate drizzle

  • Sprinkles

🥄 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Cream the butter and sugar
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

  3. Add egg and vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  4. Mix in dry ingredients
Gradually add flour and salt, mixing just until the dough comes together. Don’t overmix.

  5. Shape the cookies

    • Option 1: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and flatten slightly.

    • Option 2: Use a piping bag with a star tip to pipe rosettes or “S” shapes.

    • Option 3: Roll dough into a log, chill, and slice.

  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just turning golden. Do not overbake.

  7. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

🍫 Optional:

  • Dip half in melted chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts or coconut.

  • Add citrus zest (lemon or orange) for a fresh twist.

Let me know if you want a gluten-free, eggless, or decorated holiday version!
