Butter Cookies.

Here’s a classic and super simple recipe for Butter Cookies — rich, tender, and perfect for tea time, holiday trays, or just an anytime treat. These cookies melt in your mouth and are made with just a few ingredients you likely already have.


🍪 Classic Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp salt


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

2. Cream the Butter & Sugar:

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

3. Add Egg & Vanilla:

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Add Dry Ingredients:

  • Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a smooth dough forms.

5. Shape the Cookies:

Option 1: Drop Cookies

  • Roll into 1-inch balls and gently flatten with a fork or the bottom of a glass.

Option 2: Piped Cookies (like Danish-style)

  • Use a piping bag with a large star tip to pipe shapes (e.g. rosettes or rings) onto the baking sheet.

Option 3: Slice & Bake

  • Roll dough into a log, chill for 30 minutes, then slice and bake.

6. Bake:

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden.

  • Do not overbake — they should stay pale in the center.

7. Cool:

  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


✅ Optional Add-Ons:

  • Dip half in melted chocolate and sprinkle with crushed nuts or sprinkles.

  • Add a tiny bit of lemon zest or almond extract to the dough for flavor variations.

  • Press a cherry or a dab of jam into the center before baking for a festive twist.
