BUTTER COOKIES

Here’s a classic and easy recipe for Butter Cookies that are crispy, buttery, and delicious. These cookies melt in your mouth and are perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. Mix the Butter and Sugar:

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

3. Add the Egg and Vanilla:

  • Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until smooth and well combined.

4. Combine the Dry Ingredients:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.

5. Shape the Cookies:

  • Once the dough is ready, scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls. You can also use a cookie press or piping bag for more decorative shapes, if desired.
  • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. You can lightly flatten each ball with a fork or your fingers for a classic look.

6. Bake the Cookies:

  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies will firm up as they cool.

7. Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the butter cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

  • Flavor Variations: You can add lemon zest, almond extract, or a pinch of cinnamon to the dough for a twist on the flavor.
  • Decorating: Before baking, you can sprinkle the cookies with colored sugar, or dip the edges in melted chocolate for an extra special treat.
  • Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them for longer storage.
