boiled eggs

Boiled eggs are a simple, nutritious staple—but getting them just right depends on how you like them! Here’s a quick guide to making perfect boiled eggs every time:

🥚 How to Boil Eggs

Ingredients:

  • Eggs (as many as you like)

  • Water

  • Optional: salt or vinegar (to help prevent cracking or make peeling easier)

⏱️ Timing Guide (for Large Eggs, from fridge):

Doneness Time After Boiling Starts Description
Soft-boiled 6 minutes Jammy yolk, firm whites
Medium-boiled 8 minutes Mostly set yolk, still creamy
Hard-boiled 10–12 minutes Fully set, bright yellow yolk

🔥 Method:

  1. Place eggs in a pot in a single layer and cover with cold water (1 inch above eggs).

  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and start timing based on desired doneness.

  4. When done, immediately transfer eggs to an ice water bath for at least 5 minutes to stop cooking and make peeling easier.

🧂 Tips for Perfect Boiled Eggs:

  • Older eggs peel easier than fresh ones.

  • Crack slightly and roll on a hard surface to peel more easily.

  • If yolk is greenish-gray, the eggs were overcooked—harmless, but not ideal.
