🧀 Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (per sandwich):

  • 2 slices of good-quality bread (sourdough, brioche, or thick white)
  • 2–3 slices cheese (mix of cheddar + mozzarella or gruyère for best melt)
  • 1–2 tbsp softened butter (or mayo for the outside spread)
  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or spread of Dijon mustard inside for flavor

🔥 Instructions:

1. Butter the Bread:

  • Spread softened butter or mayo on the outside of each slice (this gives it a golden, crispy crust).
  • Optional: sprinkle a bit of garlic powder or Parmesan onto the buttered side for extra flavor.

2. Assemble:

  • Layer your cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread.
  • Add optional extras like a dash of Dijon, caramelized onions, or tomato slices (but don’t overstuff).

3. Grill:

  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
  • Place sandwich in pan, buttered side down. Cover with a lid to trap heat and help melt the cheese.
  • Grill 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melty.

4. Rest & Serve:

  • Let it rest for a minute after cooking (so cheese doesn’t all ooze out).
  • Slice and serve immediately — with tomato soup for the full experience if you like!
