Baked chicken wings are a simple and delicious way to enjoy crispy, flavorful wings without deep-frying. Here’s a straightforward recipe that results in perfectly baked wings with a golden, crispy skin and juicy interior.

Baked Chicken Wings


Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (flats and drumettes)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for added flavor)

Optional Sauce for Tossing:

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot, or your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (for a sweet touch)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar (optional, for tang)

Instructions:

1. Prep the Chicken Wings:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This step is key for achieving a crispy skin.
  • Place the wings in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss them to coat evenly.

2. Season the Wings:

  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the wings. Toss the wings again to evenly coat them with the seasoning.

3. Bake the Wings:

  • Arrange the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet. For extra crispiness, use a wire rack on top of the baking sheet so the air circulates around the wings.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) when checked with a meat thermometer.

4. (Optional) Make the Sauce:

  • While the wings are baking, mix together the melted butter, hot sauce, honey (or brown sugar), and vinegar in a small bowl. Stir well.
  • Once the wings are done baking, you can toss them in this sauce if you want them to be coated with a flavorful glaze, or you can serve the sauce on the side for dipping.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the wings hot, with a side of dipping sauce (blue cheese or ranch dressing works great) or with veggies like celery and carrots.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions for a fresh touch.

These baked chicken wings are a great snack for a party, a game day, or just when you’re craving something crispy and savory. You can customize the seasoning or sauce based on your preferences—whether you like them sweet, spicy, or tangy!
