Here’s how to make Awesome Country Apple Fritter Bread:

Awesome Country Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients:

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced (about 2 medium apples, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Apple Fritter Swirl:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup apples, peeled, cored, and diced (about 1 medium apple)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (or heavy cream for a richer glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Prepare the Apple Fritter Swirl:

  • In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set this aside.
  • In a separate small bowl, combine the diced apples and melted butter. Toss until the apples are coated.

3. Make the Bread Batter:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer (or by hand) to cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples from the apple fritter swirl mixture.

4. Assemble the Bread:

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Spoon the remaining batter on top and spread it out evenly. Then sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture over the top.
  • Use a knife or skewer to swirl the mixture through the batter in a gentle zig-zag pattern, creating a marble or ribbon effect.

5. Bake the Bread:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few crumbs are fine, but no wet batter).
  • If the top is getting too brown while baking, cover the loaf with aluminum foil during the last 10-15 minutes of baking to prevent over-browning.

6. Make the Glaze:

  • While the bread is baking, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if you want a thinner glaze, or more powdered sugar if you prefer it thicker.

7. Glaze the Bread:

  • Once the bread is done baking, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread, letting it soak in a bit.

Why This Recipe Works:

  • Moist and Flavorful: The combination of fresh apples and the cinnamon-sugar swirl makes this bread incredibly moist and packed with flavor.
  • Apple Fritter Vibes: The apple fritter-inspired swirl in the middle adds sweetness and spice to each bite, making this a fun twist on a classic apple dessert.
  • Easy and Impressive: This recipe is simple to make, but it looks and tastes like a bakery-worthy treat!

Tips & Variations:

  • Apple Varieties: Use any apple that holds up well in baking, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji. A mix of sweet and tart apples works really well.
  • Add Walnuts: For a bit of crunch, add chopped walnuts or pecans to the apple mixture or the batter.
  • Spices: Add a bit of ginger or allspice for a more complex, warm flavor.
  • Make Mini Loaves: You can make this recipe in mini loaf pans for individual servings. Bake for about 30-35 minutes.
  • Storage: This bread stays moist for a few days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature. It can also be frozen for up to 2-3 months—just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve it warm with a cup of coffee or tea for a cozy breakfast or afternoon snack.
  • It’s also great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for dessert.

Awesome Country Apple Fritter Bread is the perfect sweet treat for any time of year, especially when apples are in season. The combination of tender apples, cinnamon, and buttery bread makes it irresistible. The glaze adds that extra touch of sweetness, making this bread a true crowd-pleaser! Enjoy!
