Apple Pie Bread

Posted on July 31, 2025

Here’s a cozy and moist Apple Pie Bread recipe — like apple pie and quick bread had a delicious baby. Packed with warm cinnamon, tender apples, and a buttery streusel topping, it’s perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet fall treat (though good all year!).

🍎 Apple Pie Bread (Quick Bread Style)

Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • ¼ cup milk or buttermilk

  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups peeled and finely chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

For the Streusel Topping:

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small cubes

Optional Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

  • Dash of vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment.

  2. Make the streusel topping:

    • In a small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

    • Cut in the cold butter with a fork or fingers until crumbly. Set aside.

  3. Make the batter:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and both sugars until fluffy.

    • Beat in eggs one at a time, then add milk and vanilla.

    • Stir in the dry ingredients just until combined.

    • Fold in the chopped apples.

  4. Assemble and bake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

    • Sprinkle streusel evenly on top.

    • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    • Let cool in pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

  5. Optional glaze:

    • Mix powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth.

    • Drizzle over the cooled bread.

📝 Tips:

  • Make it extra moist by adding ¼ cup applesauce or Greek yogurt.

  • Want crunch? Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.

  • Stores well wrapped at room temp for 2–3 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
