🍎 Ingredients:

For the dumplings:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 8 slices each)

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Wrap apples: Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Roll one apple slice in each triangle, starting at the wide end. Place wrapped apples in the prepared baking dish.

  3. Make syrup: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in sugar and vanilla (do not boil). Pour the mixture evenly over the dumplings.

  4. Add soda: Pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the dumplings (not over the top β€” this helps make a caramel-like sauce).

  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

  6. Bake: Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
