Air Fryer Wontons

Here’s a simple and tasty recipe for Air Fryer Wontons! These crispy, golden dumplings are perfect for a quick appetizer or snack, and using an air fryer keeps them light and less greasy.

Ingredients:

  • 12-15 wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 lb ground pork (or chicken or shrimp if you prefer)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots (optional, for added crunch)
  • 1/4 cup cooked spinach, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder (optional, for a hint of warmth)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Cooking spray (for lightly spraying the wontons before air frying)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, ground pork (or your choice of protein), green onions, shredded carrots, spinach (if using), soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger powder, and sesame oil. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
  2. Assemble the wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of the filling in the center of the wrapper. Be careful not to overfill to avoid any spilling during cooking.
    • Fold the wonton: Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water (you can use a finger or a brush). Fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle or gather the sides to make a pouch. Press the edges firmly to seal, making sure there are no air pockets.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Cook the wontons: Lightly spray the wontons with cooking spray, and arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd them, so cook in batches if needed.
    • Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Remove the wontons from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce (soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, or even a peanut dipping sauce).

Tips:

  • Storage: You can prepare the wontons ahead of time and refrigerate them until you’re ready to cook. If freezing, arrange them on a baking sheet in a single layer to freeze, then transfer them to a bag or container.
  • Variation: Add some diced water chestnuts, mushrooms, or bamboo shoots for extra crunch and flavor.
