Absolutely! Here’s a crispy, golden Air Fryer Scotch Eggs recipe—healthier than deep-frying but just as delicious. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, snacks, or even a picnic.


🥚 Air Fryer Scotch Eggs

📝 Ingredients (makes 4):

  • 4 large eggs (soft- or hard-boiled, peeled)
  • 12 oz (340g) breakfast sausage or ground pork
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or mustard powder (optional)

For breading:

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 raw egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup panko or regular breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray or oil for misting

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Boil the Eggs:

  • For soft-boiled: simmer eggs for 6–7 minutes.
  • For hard-boiled: cook for 9–10 minutes.
  • Transfer to ice water to cool, then peel.

2. Season and Wrap in Sausage:

  • Mix sausage with seasonings in a bowl.
  • Divide into 4 equal portions.
  • Flatten each portion into a patty, then gently wrap it around a peeled egg, sealing completely.

3. Bread the Eggs:

  • Set up 3 shallow bowls:
    1. Flour
    2. Beaten raw egg
    3. Breadcrumbs
  • Dredge each sausage-wrapped egg in flour → dip in egg → coat with breadcrumbs. Press to adhere well.

4. Air Fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray eggs with oil and place in air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd).
  • Cook for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp. Internal temp should be 160°F (71°C).

5. Serve:

  • Slice in half and enjoy warm. Serve with mustard, dipping sauce, or hot sauce.

🔥 Tips:

  • Panko breadcrumbs = crispier exterior.
  • Want extra flavor? Add fresh herbs or grated cheddar to the sausage.
  • For a keto version, use crushed pork rinds instead of breadcrumbs.
