Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls

Here’s a delicious and crispy Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls recipe — golden on the outside, cheesy and fluffy inside! These make a perfect snack, appetizer, or party finger food.


🧀🥔 Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls

Servings: 20–24 balls
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10–12 minutes per batch


✅ Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (firm, not runny)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)

  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or parsley (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1 egg (for binding)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus more for coating)

For Breading:

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works best for crunch)

  • Optional: pinch of paprika or Italian seasoning in breadcrumbs


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the Filling:

  • In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, herbs, seasonings, 1 egg, and ½ cup breadcrumbs.

  • Stir until well combined and moldable.

2. Form Balls:

  • Scoop and roll mixture into 1-inch balls.

  • Optional: Add a small cube of cheese in the center for an extra gooey center.

3. Bread the Balls:

  • Roll each ball in flour → dip in beaten egg → coat in breadcrumbs.

  • For extra crunch, double dip: egg → breadcrumbs again.

4. Air Fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Spray basket with oil. Place balls in a single layer, not touching.

  • Lightly spray the tops with oil.

  • Cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crisp.


🥣 Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve hot with:

    • Marinara sauce

    • Ranch or garlic aioli

    • Spicy ketchup or sriracha mayo


🔁 Make Ahead Tips:

  • Freeze uncooked balls on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Air fry straight from frozen, adding 2–3 extra minutes.
