🧀 Air Fryer Mac and Cheese Recipe
🍝 Ingredients
For the Mac and Cheese:
-
2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
-
1 tablespoon butter
-
1 cup whole milk (warm)
-
1/2 cup heavy cream (warm)
-
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack (optional for extra creaminess)
-
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Topping (Optional but Recommended):
-
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
-
1 tablespoon melted butter
-
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
-
Pinch of paprika or smoked paprika (optional)
🔥 Instructions
1. Pre-Cook the Pasta:
-
Cook macaroni in salted water on the stovetop according to package directions (al dente), then drain.
-
Toss with 1 tbsp butter to prevent sticking.
2. Make the Cheese Sauce:
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and cream with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Stir in the shredded cheeses until melted (they’ll continue melting in the air fryer).
3. Combine & Transfer:
-
Mix the cooked pasta with the cheese mixture.
-
Pour into a lightly greased, air fryer-safe baking dish or pan that fits your air fryer (like a 6-inch round or square pan).
4. Add the Topping (Optional):
-
Mix panko, melted butter, Parmesan, and paprika.
-
Sprinkle evenly over the top of the mac and cheese.
5. Air Fry:
-
Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) if your model requires it.
-
Place the dish in the air fryer basket.
-
Cook at 350°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
✅ Tips:
-
For extra cheesiness, add a spoonful of cream cheese to the sauce.
-
Want to skip pre-cooking pasta? You can, but you’ll need more liquid and a longer cook time—let me know if you’d like that version too.
-
Make it spicy: stir in chopped jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne.
Would you like a bacon or buffalo chicken version too?
