air fryer Garlic Butter Steak and Potato Foil Packets

Posted on June 22, 2025

Absolutely! Here’s a flavorful and easy recipe for Garlic Butter Steak and Potato Foil Packets made in the air fryer — juicy steak bites, tender potatoes, all wrapped in a buttery, garlicky hug. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep!

🥩 Air Fryer Garlic Butter Steak & Potato Foil Packets

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes

  • 2 cups baby potatoes, halved or quartered (Yukon gold or red potatoes work great)

  • 2–3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or a mix of thyme, oregano, and rosemary)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • Optional: red pepper flakes, lemon juice

🔪 Instructions:

1. Prep the Potatoes:

  • Toss potato pieces with olive oil, salt, pepper, and half of the garlic butter mixture.

  • Microwave the potatoes for 4–5 minutes, just to soften them slightly (they take longer to cook than the steak in the air fryer).

2. Prep the Steak:

  • In a bowl, toss steak cubes with remaining melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

3. Assemble the Foil Packets:

  • Tear 2 large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil (or double layer standard foil).

  • Divide potatoes and steak between the two packets.

  • Fold and seal tightly into packets, leaving a little room for steam to circulate inside.

4. Air Fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  • Place foil packets in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches).

  • Cook for 13–16 minutes, shaking or flipping the packets halfway through. Cooking time depends on how thick the steak and potatoes are.

5. Serve:

  • Carefully open packets (steam will be hot!).

  • Garnish with chopped parsley, a squeeze of lemon, or a sprinkle of Parmesan if desired.

✅ Tips:

  • Add sliced onions, mushrooms, or bell peppers to the packet for more flavor and veggies.

  • For a crisper finish, open foil in the last 2–3 minutes to let things brown.

  • Works great with chicken or shrimp as substitutions.
