Air Fryer French Fries
Ingredients:
-
2–3 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold for a creamier interior)
-
1–2 tbsp olive oil (or spray oil)
-
1/2 tsp salt (plus more to taste)
-
Optional: black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or your favorite seasoning blend
-
Optional: chopped parsley or grated parmesan for topping
Instructions:
-
Prep the potatoes:
-
Wash and peel (optional) the potatoes.
-
Cut into 1/4-inch thick sticks for classic fries, or thinner for shoestring-style.
-
-
Soak:
-
Place cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to 1 hour).
-
This removes excess starch and helps achieve crispier fries.
-
-
Dry thoroughly:
-
Drain and pat potatoes completely dry with a towel—moisture causes sogginess.
-
-
Season:
-
Toss the fries in olive oil and season with salt and optional spices.
-
-
Air fry:
-
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
-
Spread fries in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
-
Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes until golden and crisp.
-
For extra crispy fries, increase heat to 400°F for the last 3–5 minutes.
-
-
Serve:
-
Sprinkle with extra salt, herbs, or cheese.
-
Serve hot with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
-
Tips:
-
Want them even crispier? Add 1 tsp cornstarch to the oil before tossing.
-
Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—crowding = steaming instead of crisping.
