Air Fryer Egg Toast is a quick, delicious, and healthy breakfast or snack that’s easy to make in your air fryer! It’s a fun twist on classic egg-in-a-hole, where you cook a cracked egg in the middle of a slice of bread, but with the convenience of the air fryer for a crispy, golden finish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, sourdough, or gluten-free)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for spreading)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Herbs or seasoning (optional: garlic powder, paprika, chives, etc.)

  • Cheese (optional, for topping, such as cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan)


Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bread:

  • If desired, butter one side of each slice of bread for extra flavor and crispiness. You can skip this if you prefer a lighter version.

  • Use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice (about 2-3 inches in diameter). You can also use a knife to cut a square or heart shape if you want a fun twist.

2. Place the Bread in the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes if needed.

  • Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket. Make sure the slices are in a single layer and there’s space for air to circulate.

3. Crack the Eggs:

  • Carefully crack an egg into the hole of each slice of bread, making sure to keep the egg yolk intact.

  • Season the egg with salt and pepper. You can also add any additional seasonings you like, such as garlic powder, paprika, or chopped chives for extra flavor.

4. Air Fry the Toast:

  • Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for about 5-7 minutes. Check for doneness—if you prefer a runnier yolk, cook for a shorter time, and if you like the yolk more set, leave it in a little longer.

  • For extra crispiness, you can add a bit of cheese on top of the egg before air frying, which will melt beautifully as the toast cooks.

5. Serve:

  • Once the eggs are cooked to your liking, carefully remove the egg toast from the air fryer.

  • Serve immediately! You can garnish with fresh herbs, extra cheese, or a drizzle of hot sauce if you want a little kick.


Tips:

  • Egg Cooked to Preference: If you like your eggs with runny yolks, you can remove them a little earlier. If you prefer fully set eggs, leave them in for a couple of extra minutes.

  • Cheese Topping: Add a slice of cheese on top of the egg before air frying for a cheesy twist. Cheddar, mozzarella, or even feta works well.

  • Add Veggies: You can also top the egg with some sliced tomatoes, spinach, or even avocado slices for a more substantial breakfast.

  • Bread Variations: You can use any bread, such as sourdough, rye, whole wheat, or even gluten-free bread, depending on your preferences.

  • Serve the egg toast with a side of fruit, a small green salad, or some crispy bacon for a complete meal.

  • For a heartier breakfast, pair it with air-fried potatoes or some avocado toast.
