Air Fryer Chips

Here’s a crisp and satisfying Air Fryer Chips (aka fries) recipe — healthier than deep-fried, but still golden, crispy, and delicious. You can make them with potatoes or even other veggies like sweet potatoes or zucchini.


🍟 Crispy Air Fryer Chips (Fries)

Servings: 2–4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15–20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy


🥔 Ingredients:

  • 2–3 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon gold)

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)

  • ½ tsp salt (plus more to taste)

  • Optional seasonings:

    • Paprika

    • Garlic powder

    • Black pepper

    • Cajun seasoning

    • Chili flakes or parmesan for topping


🔪 Instructions:

1. Prep the Potatoes

  • Peel if desired, then cut into thin slices (for chips) or thin sticks (for fries). Keep slices even for best results.

  • Soak in a bowl of cold water for 15–30 minutes to remove excess starch — this helps them crisp up.

  • Drain and pat completely dry with a towel.

2. Season

  • Toss in a bowl with oil and salt. Add any other seasonings you like.

3. Air Fry

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Add chips in a single layer (you may need to cook in batches).

  • Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

⏱️ Thin chips: 12–15 min
⏱️ French fries-style: 15–20 min
⏱️ Thicker wedges: 20–25 min at 400°F

4. Serve

  • Sprinkle with extra salt, parmesan, or herbs.

  • Serve with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.


🧊 Tips:

  • For extra crispy chips: After slicing, soak longer (up to 1 hour), and make sure to dry thoroughly.

  • Crowding = soggy chips. Work in batches if needed.

  • Want ultra-thin “crisps”? Use a mandoline and reduce cook time slightly (8–12 min).
