AIR FRYER BAKED POTATO

Posted on August 30, 2025
Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are the easiest way to achieve that perfect baked potato—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—without heating up your oven. The air fryer cooks potatoes quickly and evenly, giving them a deliciously crispy skin and soft, fluffy interior. Plus, it’s a total game-changer for weeknight dinners!

Here’s how to make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes:

Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium russet potatoes (or any baking potatoes)

  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon bits, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Potatoes:

    • Scrub the potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with paper towels.

    • Use a fork to poke a few holes all around each potato. This allows steam to escape while cooking and prevents the potatoes from bursting.

  2. Season:

    • Rub each potato with olive oil (or melted butter) to coat the skin. This helps to get that crispy texture.

    • Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.

  4. Cook the Potatoes:

    • Place the prepared potatoes in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not overlapping or crowded so that air can circulate around each potato.

    • Air fry the potatoes at 400°F (200°C) for about 35-45 minutes, depending on the size of the potatoes. The smaller potatoes will cook faster, while larger ones may need a bit more time.

    • Flip the potatoes halfway through cooking to ensure they cook evenly and get crispy on all sides.

  5. Check for Doneness:

    • After 35 minutes, check the potatoes for doneness. You can insert a fork or skewer into the thickest part of the potato—if it slides in easily, the potatoes are ready.

    • If they’re not quite done, cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until they’re soft inside and crispy outside.

  6. Serve:

    • Once done, remove the potatoes from the air fryer. Cut a slit down the center of each potato, fluff the insides with a fork, and top with your favorite toppings like butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, or chives.

Tips:

  • Even Cooking: If you’re cooking more than two potatoes, you may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.

  • Size Matters: Adjust the cooking time based on the size of the potatoes. Larger potatoes may take a bit longer to cook, while smaller ones will cook more quickly.

  • Extra Crispy Skin: For extra crispy skin, you can brush the potatoes with a little more oil or butter halfway through the cooking process.

  • Toppings: You can load up your baked potato with a variety of toppings like shredded cheese, chives, sour cream, crispy bacon bits, or even broccoli and cheese for a complete meal.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve your Air Fryer Baked Potatoes alongside a juicy steak, grilled chicken, or a fresh salad.

  • You can also make a loaded baked potato by adding your favorite toppings like cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, and chives.

These Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are so simple and quick to make, yet they turn out crispy and flavorful every time. They’re a great side dish or even a main course if you load them up with toppings! Enjoy!
