Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents

Posted on February 4, 2025

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents are a perfect appetizer or snack that combines the savory flavors of sausage and cream cheese, wrapped up in buttery, flaky crescent dough. They’re easy to make and sure to be a crowd-pleaser! Here’s a simple recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 lb (225g) breakfast sausage (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Sausage:

  • In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes). If there’s excess grease, drain it off.
  • Once the sausage is cooked, add the garlic powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Stir until smooth and creamy.
  • Once the sausage has cooled slightly, add it to the cream cheese mixture and mix well to combine.

3. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

4. Assemble the Crescents:

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Separate the dough into individual triangles (as per the package instructions).
  • Place a spoonful of the sausage and cream cheese mixture onto the wide end of each crescent dough triangle.

5. Roll and Shape:

  • Starting at the wide end, roll up the dough around the filling to form a crescent shape.
  • Make sure the edges are sealed well to prevent the filling from spilling out during baking.

6. Bake the Crescents:

  • Place the filled crescent rolls onto a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

7. Serve:

  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  • Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving for a touch of color.

Enjoy!

These Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents are perfect for parties, brunches, or just as a tasty snack. The combination of sausage, cream cheese, and flaky crescent dough is irresistible!
