Turkey Wings are a flavorful and hearty cut that can be cooked in a variety of ways, from roasting to braising or slow-cooking. Here’s a simple recipe for Oven-Roasted Turkey Wings that results in tender meat with crispy skin and delicious seasoning.

Oven-Roasted Turkey Wings Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 large turkey wings (about 2-3 pounds total)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (for flavor and color)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional for a touch of brightness)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey wings:
    • Pat the turkey wings dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This helps the skin become crispy while cooking.
    • Using a sharp knife, you can also cut off the tips of the wings if desired, but that’s optional.
  3. Season the wings:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil (or melted butter), salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and rosemary. If you like a little extra tang, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the mix.
    • Rub the seasoning mixture all over the turkey wings, making sure to coat them evenly. Massage the seasonings into the skin and under the meat where possible.
  4. Roast the wings:
    • Place the seasoned turkey wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a roasting pan. Arrange the wings in a single layer for even cooking.
    • Roast in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through cooking. You’ll want them to be golden brown and crispy on the outside, and the internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.
  5. Rest and Serve:
    • Once the turkey wings are done, remove them from the oven and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat.
    • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, and serve with your favorite sides.

Tips:

  • Crispier Skin: For extra crispy skin, you can broil the wings for the last 3-5 minutes of cooking, but keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
  • Marinate: If you have time, marinate the turkey wings in the seasoning mixture for a few hours or overnight in the fridge for more flavor.
  • Slow Cooker Option: If you prefer a more tender, fall-off-the-bone turkey wing, you can cook them in a slow cooker with the same seasonings and a splash of broth or water. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
