Best Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe

Posted on February 3, 2025

Here’s a delicious and creamy Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate recipe that’s perfect for cozy days. It’s easy to make, and the slow cooker keeps it warm and ready to serve whenever you’re in the mood for a rich, indulgent drink.

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups whole milk (you can use 2% or a non-dairy alternative like almond milk if you prefer)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: Whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, crushed peppermint, or sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Combine the ingredients:
    • In your slow cooker, combine the whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk everything together until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved.
  2. Add the chocolate:
    • Stir in the chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate) into the milk mixture. The chocolate will slowly melt as it heats up, making the hot chocolate rich and smooth.
  3. Slow cook:
    • Set the slow cooker to low and cook for about 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t start to bubble or boil over.
    • Once the chocolate is fully melted and everything is combined, taste it and add more vanilla extract if desired for extra flavor.
  4. Serve:
    • Stir the hot chocolate one last time before serving.
    • Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs and top with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings.
  5. Enjoy:
    • Serve this hot chocolate with a sprinkle of cinnamon, crushed peppermint, or even a few chocolate chips on top for extra indulgence!

Tips:

  • For a richer hot chocolate, you can add more heavy cream or adjust the sweetness by adding extra sweetened condensed milk.
  • If you want a fun twist, you can flavor the hot chocolate with a little peppermint extract or cinnamon.
  • You can make this a “hot chocolate bar” and let everyone top their drink with their favorite mix-ins!

This hot chocolate is super creamy, perfectly sweet, and will definitely warm you up!
