Delicious Cabbage Fritters

Posted on February 2, 2025

Here’s a simple and delicious cabbage fritters recipe—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. These fritters are a great way to enjoy cabbage in a fun, savory way!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for freshness)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Cabbage:

  • Place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and toss to combine. Let the cabbage sit for about 10 minutes. This will help draw out excess moisture.
  • After 10 minutes, use a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to squeeze out any extra liquid from the cabbage. This step ensures your fritters stay crispy!

2. Mix the Batter:

  • To the cabbage, add the diced onion, eggs, flour, Parmesan cheese (if using), garlic powder, paprika, fresh parsley (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined. The batter should be thick and hold together. If it feels too runny, add a little more flour to thicken it up.

3. Fry the Fritters:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, scoop about 2 tablespoons of the fritter mixture and drop it into the skillet. Flatten it slightly with a spoon to form a patty.
  • Cook the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if needed.

4. Drain and Serve:

  • Once the fritters are done, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sour cream, yogurt, or a tangy tomato dip.

Tips:

  • For a healthier version, you can bake the fritters instead of frying them. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), place the fritters on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • You can also add carrot or zucchini to the fritter mix for extra flavor and nutrition!
  • These fritters are great as a snack, appetizer, or side dish. They’re also fantastic when served alongside a salad.

These Delicious Cabbage Fritters are crispy, savory, and totally irresistible. Perfect for cabbage lovers or anyone looking to try something a bit different! Enjoy!
