Meatloaf Sandwich Recipe

A meatloaf sandwich is a classic comfort food! Here’s a simple and tasty recipe to make a delicious meatloaf sandwich:

Meatloaf Recipe (for the sandwich):

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional, for a sweet glaze)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 cup ketchup. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.
  3. Shape and Bake: Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and form it into a loaf shape. Optionally, mix the extra 1/4 cup ketchup with brown sugar and spread it over the top of the meatloaf for a sweet glaze. Bake for 60–75 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  4. Cool and Slice: Once the meatloaf is done, let it cool for a few minutes. Then, slice it into thick slices.

Meatloaf Sandwich Assembly:

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, or a hearty sandwich bread works well)
  • Butter or mayo (optional, for spreading)
  • Cheese (optional, like cheddar or American cheese)
  • Pickles, lettuce, or other preferred toppings
  • Extra ketchup or BBQ sauce (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Toast the Bread: You can lightly toast your bread slices, or leave them soft, depending on your preference.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich: Spread a thin layer of butter or mayo on one side of each slice of bread (optional). Place a generous slice of meatloaf on one slice of bread. Add a slice of cheese if you’d like, and top with pickles, lettuce, or any other sandwich fixings you prefer.
  3. Top and Serve: Place the second slice of bread on top, and your meatloaf sandwich is ready! You can add a bit more ketchup or BBQ sauce inside the sandwich for extra flavor.
