Korean-Style Chicken – Nan Cooks

Posted on January 31, 2025

Here’s a Korean-Style Chicken recipe inspired by Nan Cooks! This recipe combines the sweet, spicy, and savory flavors of Korean cuisine, perfect for a delicious, easy-to-make meal.

Korean-Style Chicken (Nan Cooks Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs (or chicken breasts)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste, adjust to your heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

For Serving:

  • Cooked rice (white or brown)
  • Steamed vegetables (like broccoli, carrots, or spinach) or a side salad

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey (or brown sugar), garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and gochujang. This will create a flavorful marinade and sauce.
    • Place the chicken thighs (or breasts) into a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the chicken. Make sure the chicken is well-coated. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for more intense flavor.
  2. Cook the chicken:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken (reserve some of the marinade for later).
    • Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side until fully cooked through, and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). If you’re using chicken breasts, you may need to adjust the cooking time.
    • Once the chicken is done, remove it from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes.
  3. Make the sauce (optional):
    • If you prefer a thicker sauce, pour the remaining marinade into the skillet after removing the chicken. Let it simmer over medium heat for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Slice and serve:
    • Slice the cooked chicken into strips and drizzle with the thickened sauce (if you made one).
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve your Korean-style chicken on a bed of rice with a side of steamed vegetables or salad. Enjoy the sweet, spicy, and savory goodness!

Pro Tip: If you like extra spice, you can drizzle some additional gochujang or chili flakes on top of the chicken before serving.
