Posted on September 24, 2025

Here’s a classic, comforting Old-Fashioned Custard Pie recipe — creamy, simple, and nostalgic!

🥧 Old-Fashioned Custard Pie

📝 Ingredients

For the Crust:
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

For the Custard Filling:
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for richer custard)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

  • Pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare crust:
Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Flute edges if desired.

  3. Make custard:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until well combined.
Stir in milk, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg.

  4. Assemble pie:
Pour custard mixture into the pie crust.

  5. Bake:
Bake for 45–55 minutes until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
(A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.)

  6. Cool:
Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving. Refrigerate if serving later.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve plain or with a dollop of whipped cream.

  • Sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top for aroma.
