Classic Cherry Delight

Posted on September 19, 2025

Classic Cherry Delight — that sounds like a luscious, sweet treat! Here’s a straightforward recipe for a Classic Cherry Delight dessert, usually a layered cherry pudding or trifle-style dessert.

Classic Cherry Delight

Ingredients:

  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 2 cups cold milk

  • 1 (9 oz) graham cracker crust or crushed graham crackers (optional, if you want a crust base)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the pudding: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk. Let it set for 5 minutes until thickened.

  2. Make the cream cheese layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in about half of the whipped topping.

  3. Layer the dessert:

    • If using, press graham cracker crust into the bottom of your dish (8×8 or 9×9 works great).

    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust or bottom of your serving dish.

    • Spoon the prepared pudding over the cream cheese layer.

    • Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer.

    • Top with the cherry pie filling evenly.

  4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight is best) to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Want a no-bake option, or a version with fresh cherries? Or maybe a fun twist like adding crushed nuts or chocolate?
