Here’s a classic, flaky, and delicious Apple Pie recipe — perfectly spiced and golden brown!


🍏 Classic Apple Pie

🍽️ Servings: 8

⏱️ Time: About 1 hour 30 minutes (plus chilling)


🧂 Ingredients:

For the crust:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling:

  • 6–7 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces (for dotting)

For topping:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the crust:

  • In a large bowl, whisk flour, salt, and sugar.

  • Add cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Gradually add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, mixing until dough just holds together. Avoid overmixing.

  • Divide dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

2. Prepare the filling:

  • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, flour, and lemon juice. Toss well.

3. Assemble the pie:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  • On a floured surface, roll out one dough disc into a 12-inch circle and fit into a 9-inch pie dish.

  • Pour apple filling into crust, mounding slightly in the center. Dot with butter pieces.

  • Roll out second dough disc and cover pie. Trim excess dough and crimp edges to seal.

  • Cut slits or create a lattice pattern on top for steam to escape.

  • Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 20 minutes at 425°F (220°C).

  • Reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 40–50 minutes until crust is golden and filling bubbly.

  • If crust browns too fast, cover edges with foil.

5. Cool & Serve:

  • Cool at least 2 hours before slicing to let filling set.


✅ Tips:

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor and texture.

  • For a quicker crust, use store-bought pie dough.

  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
