πŸ”πŸ₯― Sesame Seed Burger Buns

πŸ•’ Total Time: About 2.5 hours (including rising)

🍽️ Makes: 8 buns

🍞 Texture: Soft, slightly chewy with a tender crumb

πŸ§‚ Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water (about 110Β°F / 43Β°C)

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Instructions:

1. Activate yeast:

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the dough:

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
Add melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture.
Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

3. Knead:

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
If dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.

4. First rise:

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap.
Let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.

5. Shape buns:

Punch down dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
Shape each piece into a round ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Flatten each ball slightly with your palm.

6. Second rise:

Cover loosely and let rise for 30–40 minutes, until puffy.

7. Prepare egg wash & add seeds:

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
Mix milk and a beaten egg for egg wash. Brush buns gently.
Sprinkle sesame seeds generously on top.

8. Bake:

Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.

9. Cool and serve:

Let buns cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

πŸ”„ Tips & Variations:

  • Brush with melted butter after baking for extra softness.

  • Add a teaspoon of honey to the dough for a subtle sweetness.

  • For a whole wheat version, substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour.

  • Toast buns lightly before serving for extra flavor.
