Posted on January 28, 2025

A Fresh Fruit Salad is a refreshing and healthy dessert or side dish that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s easy to make and can be customized with your favorite fruits. Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for a Fresh Fruit Salad:

Fresh Fruit Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup grapes (red or green), halved if large
  • 1 large apple, cored and diced
  • 1 orange, peeled and segmented
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup pineapple, diced (fresh or canned)
  • 1/2 cup mango, diced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (optional, for a zesty kick)
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the fruit:
    • Wash and prepare all the fruit. Hull and slice the strawberries, halve the grapes, peel and segment the orange, peel and slice the kiwi, and dice the apple, pineapple, and mango (if using).
    • If you’re using canned pineapple, make sure to drain it well before adding it to the salad.
  2. Mix the fruit:
    • In a large mixing bowl, gently combine all the prepared fruits. Be careful not to mash them; you want the pieces to stay intact.
  3. Add a little sweetness and flavor:
    • If you prefer a bit of sweetness, drizzle the honey or maple syrup over the fruit and toss gently to coat. You can also add a splash of fresh lime juice for some brightness and a zesty contrast.
  4. Garnish and serve:
    • Garnish with fresh mint leaves for an extra burst of flavor and color.
    • Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before serving for a chilled fruit salad.

Tips:

  • Seasonal fruits: Use whatever fruits are in season for the freshest taste. Summer might feature more berries, while fall might offer apples and pears.
  • Add-ins: You can mix in nuts (like chopped almonds or walnuts), coconut flakes, or even a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flavor.
  • Citrus: You can add a few tablespoons of orange juice or lemon juice for a citrusy twist and to help prevent the fruit from browning, especially the apples and bananas.
  • For a creamy version: Add a dollop of yogurt or whipped cream to make it richer.

This Fresh Fruit Salad is vibrant, juicy, and packed with vitamins. It’s perfect for a healthy snack, a refreshing side dish, or a light dessert. Enjoy!
