Posted on September 2, 2025

Here’s a surprisingly easy and satisfying recipe for Homemade Air Fryer Bread β€” soft on the inside, golden on the outside, and perfect for sandwiches, toast, or just slathering with butter. No oven needed!

🍞 Homemade Air Fryer Bread (Small Loaf or Rolls)

πŸ•’ Prep Time: 15 minutes (plus rising)

πŸ•’ Cook Time: 15–20 minutes
🍽️ Makes: 1 small loaf or 6 rolls

πŸ§‚ Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp instant yeast (or active dry yeast β€” see note below)

  • 3/4 cup (180ml) warm water (about 110Β°F / 43Β°C)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (plus more for greasing)

πŸ”§ Optional Add-ins

  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing on top)

  • Herbs, garlic, or shredded cheese (for flavored bread)

πŸ”₯ Instructions

1. Make the dough:

  • In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.

  • Add warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  • Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic (by hand or mixer).

  • Lightly oil the bowl, place dough in, and cover with a towel or plastic wrap.

2. Let it rise:

  • Allow dough to rise for 45–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

  • Warm spot tip: Place near a warm window or in a turned-off microwave with a mug of hot water.

3. Shape & second rise:

  • After rising, punch down the dough.

  • For a small loaf: shape into a round or oval and place in a parchment-lined cake pan or air fryer-safe dish.

  • For rolls: divide dough into 6 balls and place in a parchment-lined basket or pan.

  • Cover and let rise another 20–30 minutes, until puffy.

4. Air fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 330–350Β°F (165–175Β°C) if your model allows (or just run it for a few minutes empty).

  • Place the pan or rolls in the air fryer basket.

  • Cook for 15–20 minutes, depending on loaf size.
    Rolls usually take 12–15 minutes.
The top should be golden brown and the bread should sound hollow when tapped.

5. Cool & serve:

  • Remove and let cool slightly before slicing.

  • Brush with melted butter if desired for a glossy, soft top.

πŸ“ Tips & Variations

  • Active dry yeast? Proof it first in the warm water with sugar for 5–10 minutes until foamy, then add to flour.

  • Cheesy bread: Fold in shredded cheese before shaping.

  • Herb focaccia style: Flatten dough, dimple it, drizzle with olive oil and herbs before air frying.

  • Storage: Best eaten fresh, but you can store it for 2–3 days or freeze for longer.
