Here’s a Fried Bologna Sandwich recipe — a crispy, nostalgic classic that’s simple, salty, and totally satisfying. Perfect with a cold drink and some chips!


🥪 Classic Fried Bologna Sandwich

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 4 slices thick-cut bologna (or regular if that’s what you have)

  • 2 slices white bread (or your favorite bread: brioche, sourdough, or toast)

  • 1 tbsp butter (for the bread)

  • 1 tsp oil or butter (for frying)

  • 1 slice American cheese (or cheddar, optional)

  • Yellow mustard (classic), mayo, or both

  • Optional toppings: sliced pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, hot sauce, or a fried egg


🔧 Instructions:

1. Prep the bread:

  • Butter one side of each bread slice (like you would for grilled cheese). Set aside.

2. Fry the bologna:

  • Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Cut small slits around the edges of each bologna slice (this prevents it from curling up too much).

  • Fry until browned and crispy on both sides (about 1–2 minutes per side). If using cheese, place a slice on top during the last 30 seconds to melt.

3. Toast the bread:

  • In the same skillet or a clean one, place the buttered side of the bread down and toast until golden brown.

4. Assemble the sandwich:

  • Spread mustard, mayo, or your favorite sauce on the non-buttered side of the toasted bread.

  • Stack the fried bologna (and cheese, if used).

  • Add optional toppings if desired.

  • Top with the second slice of bread and press lightly.

5. Serve hot:

  • Slice in half and enjoy with chips, fries, or a cold soda.

  • Make it breakfast-style with a fried egg and American cheese.
