Basic Boiled Eggs Recipe
Ingredients:
-
Eggs (as many as you need)
-
Water (enough to cover the eggs)
Instructions:
-
Place Eggs in Pot:
-
Gently place your eggs in a saucepan or pot. Make sure they are in a single layer at the bottom of the pot.
-
-
Add Water:
-
Fill the pot with cold water until the eggs are covered by about an inch or so of water.
-
-
Bring to a Boil:
-
Turn the heat to medium-high and bring the water to a full boil.
-
-
Turn Off the Heat:
-
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, turn off the heat but leave the pot on the stove. Cover it with a lid.
-
-
Set the Timer:
-
Let the eggs sit in the hot water for the following times, depending on how you like your eggs:
-
Soft-boiled (runny yolk): 4-5 minutes
-
Medium-boiled (slightly soft yolk): 7-8 minutes
-
Hard-boiled (firm yolk): 10-12 minutes
-
-
-
Cool the Eggs:
-
Once your eggs are done, carefully drain the hot water and immediately place the eggs in a bowl of ice water or under cold running water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes.
-
-
Peel and Enjoy:
-
Once cooled, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface and peel off the shell. If you want to make peeling easier, you can roll the egg gently in your hands to loosen the shell.
-
Tips:
-
If you’re boiling a lot of eggs, you can use a larger pot to ensure they have enough space.
-
Adding a teaspoon of baking soda to the water may help make peeling the eggs easier.
-
Store boiled eggs in the fridge for up to a week.
