Posted on August 29, 2025

Here’s a delicious and easy Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli recipe — just like takeout, but made at home!

🥢 Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 4–5 hours on low
Servings: 4–6

Ingredients:

  • 1.5–2 lbs (700–900g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced across the grain

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced (or 1 tsp ground ginger)

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 2–3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

  • Cooked white rice, for serving

  • Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add to slow cooker:
Place sliced beef in the slow cooker.

  2. Mix sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil (if using), garlic, and ginger. Pour over the beef.

  3. Cook:

    • Low: 4–5 hours

    • High: Not recommended — the beef can overcook and get chewy.

  4. Thicken the sauce:
About 30 minutes before serving, mix 1/4 cup cornstarch with 1/4 cup water until smooth. Stir into the slow cooker.

  5. Add broccoli:
Add broccoli to the slow cooker at the same time as the cornstarch. Stir well. (If using frozen broccoli, rinse under warm water first to thaw slightly.)

  6. Finish cooking:
Let it cook for another 30 minutes on low, until the sauce thickens and broccoli is tender.

  7. Serve:
Spoon over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if you like.
