AIR FRYER BLOOMING BAKED POTATOES

Posted on August 26, 2025

Absolutely! Here’s how to make Air Fryer Blooming Baked Potatoes — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and beautifully “bloomed” like an onion blossom, perfect for loading up with your favorite toppings.

🥔🔥 Air Fryer Blooming Baked Potatoes

🕒 Total Time: ~35–45 minutes

Servings: 2–4 (depending on potato size)

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 2 large russet potatoes (evenly sized)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • Optional toppings:

    • Sour cream or Greek yogurt

    • Shredded cheese

    • Chopped green onions or chives

    • Bacon bits

    • Hot sauce or ranch

🔪 How to Cut a Blooming Potato:

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes.

  2. Slice a small bit off the bottom so the potato sits flat.

  3. Place the potato cut-side down.

  4. Using a sharp knife, make vertical cuts around the potato about ¼-inch apart, stopping about ½ inch from the bottom (don’t cut all the way through).

  5. Rotate the potato 90°, and make the same cuts across the first set — like a grid.

  6. Gently separate the segments a bit with your fingers to “bloom” it.

Tip: You can soak them in cold water for 5–10 minutes to help the cuts open more, then pat dry.

🔥 Air Frying Instructions:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Place the cut potatoes on a plate or tray. Brush all over (inside the cuts too) with olive oil or melted butter.

  3. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. Place in air fryer basket, cut side up, ensuring space between them.

  5. Cook for 30–40 minutes, depending on potato size, until the edges are crispy and center is soft. Check at 30 min with a fork.

  6. Optional: Top with cheese and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to melt.

🧀 Serving Ideas:

  • Top with sour cream, green onions, and bacon bits.

  • For a meal: add chili, pulled pork, or sautéed veggies.

  • For a Tex-Mex twist: top with black beans, avocado, salsa, and cotija cheese.
