Frying Pan Bread

Posted on August 8, 2025

Here’s a simple, quick, and delicious recipe for Frying Pan Bread — also known as skillet bread or stovetop flatbread. No yeast, no oven needed, and ready in minutes!

🔥 Easy Frying Pan Bread (No Yeast)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup water (you may need a little more or less)

  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter (plus more for the pan)

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1–2 tbsp chopped herbs (rosemary, parsley, etc.)

  • 1–2 tbsp grated cheese or garlic powder for flavor

Instructions:

1. Mix the Dough:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

  • Stir in water and oil (or melted butter).

  • Mix until a soft dough forms. Add more flour if too sticky, or a splash of water if too dry.

  • Knead lightly on a floured surface for 1–2 minutes until smooth.

2. Divide and Roll:

  • Divide the dough into 4–6 equal balls.

  • Roll each ball into a circle or oval, about ¼ inch thick.

3. Cook in the Pan:

  • Heat a dry or lightly oiled skillet/frying pan over medium heat.

  • Place one rolled dough round in the pan.

  • Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown spots appear and it puffs slightly.

  • Repeat with remaining dough.

4. Serve Warm:

  • Brush with melted butter or olive oil if desired.

  • Serve with stews, curries, soups, or just with jam or honey.

Tips & Variations:

  • Add a sprinkle of parmesan and garlic for a savory twist.

  • Make it sweet with a little sugar and cinnamon in the dough.

  • Use whole wheat flour for a nuttier taste.

  • Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in a skillet or toaster.
