Instructions
Mashed Potatoes:
-
Add peeled, cubed potatoes to a large pot. Cover with cold, salted water.

Bring to a boil and cook until tender (12–15 minutes).
-
Drain and return to the pot. Add butter and milk, then mash until smooth.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover to keep warm.
Beef and Gravy:

In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
-
Add chopped onion and cook until softened (3–4 minutes). Add garlic and sauté for 1 more minute.
-
Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1 minute to eliminate raw flour taste.
-
Slowly stir in the beef broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
-
Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce (if using), thyme, and butter.
-
Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
To Serve:
Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates or bowls. Ladle the beef and gravy generously over the top. Optional: garnish with chopped parsley or a little shredded cheese.
