Air-fried garlic mushrooms

Posted on August 6, 2025
Here’s a quick and flavorful recipe for Air-Fried Garlic Mushrooms — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with garlicky goodness. Perfect as a side, snack, or appetizer!

Let me know if your grandma used a buttery version, added breadcrumbs, or finished them with lemon or herbs — I can tweak it easily.

Air-Fried Garlic Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb whole mushrooms (white or cremini), cleaned and patted dry

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)

  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce or balsamic vinegar (optional – adds umami)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or parsley (or 1 tsp fresh)

  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.

  2. In a bowl, toss mushrooms with:

    • Olive oil or butter

    • Garlic

    • Soy sauce or balsamic (if using)

    • Salt, pepper, and herbs

  3. Place mushrooms in the air fryer basket in a single layer. (Don’t overcrowd; cook in batches if needed.)

  4. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through. They should be golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.

  5. Optional: After cooking, toss with a squeeze of lemon or sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

Serving Ideas:

  • Serve as a side with steak, chicken, or pasta

  • Add to salads or grain bowls

  • Dip in garlic aioli or sour cream

Want Grandma’s Version?

Did she:

  • Use breadcrumbs or parmesan?

  • Finish them in butter on the stove?

  • Add wine, cream, or herbs from the garden?

Just let me know — I’ll adjust it to match how she made them.
