Here’s a delicious and crowd-pleasing Seven-Layer Taco Salad recipe — perfect for potlucks, parties, or easy weeknight dinners!


🌮 Seven-Layer Taco Salad

🧾 Ingredients:

Layer 1 – Refried Beans:

  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans

  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)

Layer 2 – Sour Cream:

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • Optional: Mix with a little taco seasoning for more flavor

Layer 3 – Guacamole:

  • 2 ripe avocados, mashed

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • Salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder

Layer 4 – Salsa or Pico de Gallo:

  • 1 cup salsa (jarred or fresh)

  • OR 1 cup pico de gallo for a chunkier texture

Layer 5 – Shredded Cheese:

  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

Layer 6 – Lettuce:

  • 2 cups shredded lettuce (romaine or iceberg)

Layer 7 – Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes

  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

  • Optional: jalapeños, corn, or crushed tortilla chips


🥣 Instructions:

  1. Prepare each layer ahead of time. Mix seasoning into beans and sour cream if using.

  2. In a clear glass dish or trifle bowl (for presentation), layer the ingredients in order:

    1. Refried beans (bottom)

    2. Sour cream

    3. Guacamole

    4. Salsa or pico de gallo

    5. Shredded cheese

    6. Lettuce

    7. Toppings (tomatoes, olives, onions, etc.)

  3. Chill for 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.

  4. Serve with tortilla chips, or as a filling for tacos or wraps.


💡 Tips:

  • Make it ahead: Just add lettuce and toppings right before serving to keep it fresh.

  • Make it meaty: Add a layer of seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken after the beans.

  • Make it vegan: Use dairy-free sour cream, guac, and vegan cheese.
