Air Fryer Stuffed Cheeseburgers with Juicy Lucy

Here’s a mouthwatering recipe for Air Fryer Stuffed Cheeseburgers (Juicy Lucy style) — crispy on the outside, juicy and melty on the inside. The Juicy Lucy is a classic Midwestern burger where the cheese is stuffed inside the patty instead of on top.


🍔 Air Fryer Juicy Lucy Stuffed Cheeseburgers

Ingredients (Makes 4 burgers):

  • 1½ lbs (680 g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

  • 4 slices American cheese (or cheddar/Muenster), cut into small squares

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • ½ tsp onion powder (optional)

  • 4 hamburger buns

  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion, ketchup, mustard, etc.


🥄 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Beef Patties:

  • Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions.

  • Flatten each portion into thin, wide patties (about ¼ inch thick).

2. Stuff the Burgers:

  • Place 2–3 small cheese squares in the center of 4 of the patties.

  • Top with the remaining patties and pinch the edges tightly to seal. You don’t want the cheese to leak out!

  • Gently flatten the sealed burgers to even thickness. Chill for 10–15 minutes to help them hold shape.

3. Preheat Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.

4. Cook the Burgers:

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.

  • Air fry the burgers at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

    • Tip: Check internal temperature — aim for 160°F (71°C) for fully cooked beef.

    • Be careful when flipping to avoid puncturing the patties.

5. Toast the Buns (optional):

  • In the last 1–2 minutes, you can place buns in the air fryer to lightly toast.

6. Assemble & Serve:

  • Add the Juicy Lucy patties to buns.

  • Load up with your favorite toppings and sauces.


🧀 Pro Tips:

  • American cheese melts best for that classic gooey center.

  • Seal the edges very well — or the cheese may ooze out during cooking.

  • Add sautéed onions or jalapeños inside with the cheese for a twist.
