A fried egg on toast is a simple, satisfying classic — perfect for breakfast, lunch, or even a light dinner. Here’s how to make it just right:


🍳 Fried Egg on Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1–2 large eggs

  • 1–2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole wheat, white, etc.)

  • Butter or oil (for frying and spreading)

  • Salt & pepper

  • (Optional): avocado, cheese, hot sauce, herbs, or sautéed greens


Instructions:

  1. Toast the bread:

    • Toast your bread to your preferred level of crispiness.

    • Optionally, spread a bit of butter on top while it’s hot.

  2. Fry the egg:

    • Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat.

    • Add a little butter or oil (about 1 tsp).

    • Crack the egg into the pan. Cook sunny-side up (don’t flip) or over-easy/medium/hard if you prefer the yolk cooked more.

    • Season with salt and pepper.

    • Cook for 2–3 minutes for runny yolk, longer for firmer yolk.

  3. Assemble:

    • Place the fried egg on top of the toast.

    • Add any extras you like: mashed avocado, grated cheese, chili flakes, a squeeze of lemon, or a drizzle of hot sauce.


🔄 Variations:

  • Avocado Egg Toast: Smash avocado on toast before adding the egg.

  • Cheesy Toast: Add a slice of cheese to toast while hot, let it melt, then top with the egg.

  • Greens: Sauté spinach or kale and layer it between toast and egg.
