HOMEMADE APPLE CAKE

Here’s a cozy and moist recipe for a classic Homemade Apple Cake — perfect for fall or any time you crave warm apple goodness!


🍎 Homemade Apple Cake

🕒 Prep: 15 min | Bake: 45–50 min | Serves: 8


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 2 medium apples, Granny Smith or your favorite baking apple)

  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square cake pan.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).

  4. Add eggs & vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

  5. Combine wet and dry: Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. Fold in apples (and nuts if using).

  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.

  8. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


Serving suggestions:

  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce.

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Great with a cup of tea or coffee!
