classic BLT sandwich

Posted on July 26, 2025

Here’s a recipe for the classic BLT sandwich β€” crisp bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and creamy mayo between toasted bread. Simple, satisfying, and timeless.

πŸ₯ͺ Classic BLT Sandwich

Makes: 1 sandwich | Time: 10–15 minutes

πŸ§‚ Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole grain work best)

  • 3–4 slices bacon

  • 2–3 slices ripe tomato

  • 2–3 leaves crisp lettuce (iceberg or romaine)

  • 1–2 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper

  • Optional: avocado, fried egg, or sliced turkey for a twist

πŸ”ͺ Instructions:

  1. Cook the Bacon:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp.

    • Drain on paper towels.

  2. Toast the Bread:

    • Toast both slices of bread to your desired golden brown.

  3. Assemble the Sandwich:

    • Spread mayo generously on one or both slices of bread.

    • Layer lettuce, tomato slices, and bacon.

    • Lightly season tomatoes with salt and pepper for extra flavor.

  4. Finish and Serve:

    • Top with second slice of bread.

    • Slice in half (diagonally, if you want to be traditional).

    • Serve immediately with chips, pickles, or a cold iced tea.

🍳 Tips:

  • Use thick-cut bacon for extra crunch and flavor.

  • Season the tomatoes β€” it really brings out their flavor.

  • To avoid sogginess, pat the tomato slices dry before layering.

  • Want a deluxe version? Add avocado, swap mayo for garlic aioli, or use peppered bacon.
