Here’s a straightforward and delicious recipe for Easy, Crispy, Golden Brown Egg Rolls — crunchy on the outside, savory and juicy on the inside. Perfect for appetizers, snacks, or as part of an Asian-inspired meal.

🥢 Easy Crispy Golden Brown Egg Rolls

Makes about 10–12 egg rolls | Ready in ~45 minutes

Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or sesame)

  • 1 lb ground pork, chicken, or turkey

  • 2 cups coleslaw mix (or shredded cabbage and carrots)

  • 2 green onions, finely sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 tsp fresh grated)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For wrapping & frying:

  • 10–12 egg roll wrappers (square)

  • Small bowl of water (for sealing)

  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about 2 inches deep)

Instructions:

1. Make the Filling:

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up.

  • Add garlic, coleslaw mix, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.

  • Stir-fry 3–5 minutes until vegetables are wilted and mixture is cooked through.

  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly (important so wrappers don’t tear or get soggy).

2. Wrap the Egg Rolls:

  • Lay out a wrapper like a diamond.

  • Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the lower third.

  • Fold bottom point over filling, then fold in sides, and roll tightly.

  • Seal top edge with a dab of water.

  • Repeat until all wrappers are filled.

3. Fry the Egg Rolls:

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

  • Carefully add egg rolls in batches (don’t overcrowd).

  • Fry for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.

  • Drain on paper towels or a wire rack.

🥡 Serve with:

  • Sweet chili sauce

  • Soy sauce or tamari

  • Spicy mustard

  • Garlic or ginger dipping sauce

📝 Tips:

  • Make vegetarian egg rolls by skipping meat and adding mushrooms, tofu, or more veggies.

  • Air fryer version: Brush lightly with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • Freezer-friendly: Freeze uncooked egg rolls on a tray, then store in a bag. Fry from frozen — just add 1–2 minutes to the cook time.
