Posted on July 26, 2025

Here’s a quick and delicious recipe for Apple Fritter Bites — soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, with warm spiced apples and a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert!

🍎 Apple Fritter Bites Recipe (Makes about 18–24 small bites)

Ingredients:

For the fritters:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg

  • ⅓ cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or oil

  • 1 cup finely chopped apples (peeled; Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the glaze (optional but recommended):
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep the Batter:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  • In another bowl, beat egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.

  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  • Fold in chopped apples. Batter will be thick.

2. Heat Oil:

  • Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a deep pot or skillet to 350°F (175°C).

  • Use a thermometer for accuracy (important to prevent greasy or undercooked fritters).

3. Fry the Bites:

  • Drop heaping teaspoons of batter into hot oil (don’t overcrowd the pan).

  • Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

  • Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

4. Make the Glaze:

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and pourable.

  • Dip warm fritter bites into the glaze or drizzle over the top.

🍽️ Tips & Variations:

  • No deep fryer? Pan-frying works great — just keep the oil temperature steady.

  • Air Fryer option: Spray with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for ~7–9 minutes, flipping halfway (texture will be less fried, more cakey).

  • Add a touch of lemon zest to the batter or glaze for a bright twist.

  • Serve warm — they’re best fresh, but you can reheat in the oven or toaster oven.
