Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Here’s a delicious, pub-style recipe for Crispy Fried Mushrooms — golden, crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Perfect as an appetizer, party snack, or game-day treat. Serve with ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo and watch them disappear. 🍄✨


🍽️ Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb whole mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and patted dry

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk

  • 1 ½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs or panko (or a mix for extra crunch)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Vegetable oil for frying


🔪 Instructions:

  1. Prep mushrooms:

    • Clean mushrooms gently with a damp paper towel. Trim stems if needed.

    • Pat very dry (moisture will prevent crispiness).

  2. Set up breading station:

    • Bowl 1: Flour, seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

    • Bowl 2: Whisk eggs with milk or buttermilk.

    • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs or panko.

  3. Coat the mushrooms:

    • Dredge each mushroom in seasoned flour.

    • Dip in egg wash.

    • Roll in breadcrumbs to coat well. Press gently to stick.

  4. Heat oil:

    • In a deep skillet or pot, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350–365°F (175–185°C).

  5. Fry mushrooms in batches:

    • Don’t overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.

    • Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain.

  6. Serve hot, with your favorite dipping sauce.


🥣 Dipping Sauce Ideas:

  • Ranch or chipotle ranch

  • Spicy mayo (mayo + sriracha)

  • Garlic aioli

  • Marinara (for an Italian twist)

  • Blue cheese dressing


💡 Tips:

  • Use panko for a lighter, extra-crispy texture.

  • Add grated Parmesan to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor.

  • Want to make them in the air fryer? Spray with oil and air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
