Here’s a classic and indulgent Caramel Cream Cake recipe — a moist layered cake with rich caramel flavor and fluffy whipped cream or buttercream frosting. Perfect for special occasions or whenever you’re craving something sweet and luxurious!


🍰 Caramel Cream Cake

🧁 Components:

  1. Moist vanilla or caramel-flavored cake layers

  2. Rich caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)

  3. Light whipped cream or caramel buttercream frosting

  4. Optional: caramel drizzle, toffee bits, or sea salt for topping


📝 Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups (300 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ¾ cups (350 g) granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (or buttermilk)

  • ½ cup (120 ml) caramel sauce (folded into the batter for extra flavor – optional)

For the Caramel Sauce (optional homemade):

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

  • 6 tbsp (85 g) butter, cubed

  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt (for salted caramel)

For the Whipped Cream Frosting:

  • 2 cups (480 ml) heavy whipping cream

  • ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: 3–4 tbsp caramel sauce folded in

💡 Alternate frosting: Use a caramel Swiss meringue buttercream or cream cheese frosting for a richer version.


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch or 9-inch cake pans.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–4 minutes).

  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla.

  5. Add dry ingredients in 3 parts, alternating with milk, starting and ending with flour.

  6. If using, fold in ½ cup caramel sauce for extra caramel flavor.

  7. Divide batter into pans. Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Let cool completely before frosting.

Step 2: Make the Caramel Sauce

  1. Heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted and amber-colored.

  2. Add butter (carefully—it will bubble), stir until melted.

  3. Slowly pour in cream while stirring. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until smooth.

  4. Stir in vanilla and salt. Cool to room temp before using.

Step 3: Make Whipped Cream Frosting

  1. Beat cold heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  2. Fold in cooled caramel sauce if desired.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Level cake layers if needed.

  2. Spread a layer of whipped cream on the bottom cake layer.

  3. Drizzle caramel sauce over the cream, then add second cake layer.

  4. Frost the outside and top with whipped cream.

  5. Drizzle with more caramel sauce and optional sea salt, toffee bits, or chopped nuts.


🍽️ To Serve:

  • Chill for 30 minutes before slicing for clean layers.

  • Pairs beautifully with coffee or tea!
