🍞 Air Fryer French Toast Sticks
🍽️ Servings: 3–4
⏱️ Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 8–10 mins
🧾 Ingredients:
-
4 slices thick bread (Texas toast, brioche, challah, or day-old white bread)
-
2 eggs
-
¼ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
1 tbsp sugar (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
-
Butter or oil spray (for greasing)
Optional Topping:
-
2 tbsp sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)
-
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit for serving
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Cut the Bread:
-
Slice each bread slice into 3–4 strips.
2. Make the Custard:
-
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar (if using), and salt.
3. Dip the Sticks:
-
Dip each bread strip into the egg mixture, coating all sides. Don’t soak too long—just enough to absorb.
4. Preheat & Grease Air Fryer:
-
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes.
-
Lightly spray the basket with oil or brush with butter.
5. Cook:
-
Place sticks in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed).
-
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
6. Optional Coating:
-
While still warm, toss sticks in a cinnamon-sugar mixture if desired.
7. Serve Warm:
-
Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries.
✅ Tips:
-
For extra indulgence: Add a drizzle of cream cheese glaze or Nutella.
-
To freeze: Cook, cool, and freeze in a zip-top bag. Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 4–5 minutes.
