Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole

Here’s a classic and comforting Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole recipe—perfect as a side dish for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.


🧀 Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole

Servings: 8–10
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: ~55 minutes


🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 (30 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Topping:

  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes or crushed Ritz crackers

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (to mix with topping)


🥄 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine:

    • Cream of chicken soup

    • Sour cream

    • Melted butter

    • Chopped onion (if using)

    • Garlic powder

    • Salt & pepper

  3. Stir in the hash browns and shredded cheese until well mixed.

  4. Spread mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  5. If using a topping:

    • Mix crushed cornflakes (or crackers) with 2 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle on top.

  6. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until hot and bubbly with a golden top.


📝 Tips & Variations:

  • Substitute cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup for a vegetarian version.

  • Add diced ham or cooked bacon for a heartier casserole.

  • Use Monterey Jack or Colby cheese for variation in flavor.

  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days before baking.
